HOW TO NOMINATE

Any member in good standing may nominate a local registered charity. Nomination forms must be submitted no later than 4 weeks prior to the meeting. If a form is submitted after that date, it will be held for the next meeting.

All individual nominations remain in the basket until:

  • that charity is awarded the funds,
  • the nominator is no longer a member or
  • the nominator withdraws their nomination.

(there is no need to re-nominate your charity after each meeting; their name will remain in the basket until one of the above occurs)

IMPORTANT: Each member may have only one nomination in the charity basket at any time.

A member can withdraw their nomination and replace it with another at any time by contacting us. If you make a second nomination and do not contact us, we will use your most recent nomination and delete the previous one.

A charity can receive more than one nomination if multiple members nominate the same charity.

QUALIFIED CHARITIES

All the charities that are added to the charity basket MUST meet the following criteria:

(Search for charity by name at the above link. Once found in the listing, click on their name to find their Charity Registration Number.)

TO NOMINATE A CHARITY

  1. Ensure your charity meets the requirements of a qualified charity. All those on our current list are qualified charities.
  2. Fill out a Charity Nomination Form at least 4 weeks before the next members’ meeting.
  3. Create a 5-minute presentation that you or another member of 100+ Women Who Care Salt Spring Island will give if your charity is one of the three charities selected from the charity basket at an upcoming meeting.  Hesitant to speak?  Contact us and we can connect you with other members who have nominated the same charity.  One of them may already be prepared to speak.
  4. If you do not want to speak in public, or if you will be away and don’t have another one of our members to speak on your behalf, contact our Planning Committee.  If you provide us with a copy of your presentation, we can make it on your behalf.
  5. Our Planning Committee will determine if your charity meets our eligibility criteria. Someone will contact you within a few days if there is a problem with the charity’s eligibility.
